Project Details
A full gutter clean for a large hotel and service station just off the M6. I've added this not because of the projects difficulty, more because of the size. The largest job in terms of amount of guttering.
What we did
Our team performed a full-scale gutter cleaning and inspection service for both the hotel and the service station. This included:
High-Volume Debris Removal: Cleared years of compacted leaves, silt, and organic waste from hundreds of metres of guttering.
Comprehensive Inspection & Minor Repairs: Conducted a thorough walk-around inspection. We identified and performed minor, immediate repairs to loose brackets, sagging sections, and small leaks to prevent further damage.
Proactive Problem Reporting: As part of our standard service, we documented and reported all potential issues, such as inadequate gutter sizing, areas prone to future blockages, and recommendations for long-term maintenance.
High-Risk Area Management: At the service station, we implemented a detailed traffic management plan to ensure the safety of our team, clients, and the public.
Challenges We Faced
This project presented several significant challenges that required careful planning and expertise:
Scale & Gutter Inadequacy: The hotel was a massive building fitted with gutters not designed for its commercial size or roof area. This led to severe overloading and required careful, systematic clearing to avoid damage.
Traffic & Public Safety (Service Station): Cleaning the service station canopies meant working directly above live fuel pumps and busy traffic lanes. Our primary challenge was eliminating risk, requiring lane closures and detailed safety protocols coordinated with the client to minimise disruption.
Logistics & Access: Coordinating equipment and team movement between two large, active commercial sites required precise scheduling to maintain efficiency without interfering with hotel guests or service station customers.
Why This Project Stands Out
This project exemplifies the difference between a simple clean and true property care partnership.
Beyond Cleaning: We moved past just removing debris to become a diagnostic partner. For the hotel, we provided a clear, actionable report on why their gutter system was failing and what was needed to fix it long-term.
Safety as a Priority: The service station work demonstrated our commitment to zero-compromise safety. Our pre-planned traffic management wasn't an add-on—it was the foundation of the job, giving the client complete confidence.
Commercial Understanding: We successfully navigated the unique pressures of two different commercial environments, proving our adaptability and respect for our clients' operational needs.
The Final Result
Both the hotel and service station management received:
Fully Cleared & Functioning Gutters: Immediate relief from overflow risks and water damage threats.
